The Cigar Bowl was a post-season college football bowl game featuring small college teams which was held in Tampa, Florida, from 1947 to 1954. The bowl's name was inspired by the local cigar industry, which had been a major factor in Tampa's growth around the turn of the 20th Century.
In 1950, the Seminoles made program history in just their third season of play. FSU football traveled from Tallahassee to Tampa to take on the Wofford Terriers in the Cigar Bowl – the first time the Noles had been selected to play in a postseason bowl game since the program started.
We also had a Cigar Bowl Queen, complete with a cigar crown.
Final Score: 19-6 Florida State
