note of gratitude from scholarship recipient:

Dear Seminole Club of Greater Orlando,

I am writing to thank you for your generous 2021 Seminole Club of Greater Orlando scholarship. I was very happy and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient of your scholarship. I am a freshman at Florida State University, and I want to be a doctor who provides dermatological healthcare to less fortunate patients, focusing on minority skincare. Unfortunately, access to dermatological healthcare is often seen as a luxury, and my own experiences have taught me that dermatology needs to be normalized to stay healthy. Not only do I plan on opening my dermatological practice, but I aspire to prescribe and create products that work for everyone, not just one ethnic group.

Overall, my main goal as a healthcare provider is to ensure that I provide inclusion for all. An education that includes an undergraduate degree and an M.D. degree is the first big step to achieving this dream. The immense amount of resources, knowledge, and experience made available to me because of your financial support is a primary reason I am beginning to see the catalyzation of my journey to have a career in medicine and enhance my love for science. In years to come, this could potentially benefit millions of people worldwide when my dreams come to fruition when I’m in a position to make natural and affordable remedies to address skin ailments in an inclusive and accessible way.

By awarding me the Seminole Club of Greater Orlando scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of learning rather than making money or looking for funds. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

Sincerely, Amari Sims
