SCGO Community Service - 2021

Dec 2021

 LETTER TO SCGO MEMBERS

Good afternoon,

The “Seminoles for Seniors” was a great success!   The residents and staff from Pathways to Care would like to thank you all for your generous support.

Pathways to Care is a unique healthcare ministry of Catholic Charities of Central Florida.  We are a non-profit, licensed assisted living community that assists with respite housing for those that are in need of medical assistance following a recent hospitalization.  Most of our residents are experiencing homelessness, often struggling with addiction and/or mental health diagnosis(es).  We assist those who are often uninsured and unemployed.  Our goal is to assist with providing a safe environment, medication management, housing and other social services.  Our residents are assigned to case managers that assist with a safe discharge plan.  We are not a homeless shelter, nursing home or drug rehab center.

We cannot thank you enough for your kindness.  Each resident was able to have their own gift to open on Christmas morning.  Most of our residents do not have contact with their families and Christmas can be a rough time of year to reflect on the negative.  Seminoles for Seniors was able to make our men and women beam.  Thank you again for your commitment to the community.

We were so proud to join clubs around the nation in supporting this amazing group of students in lieu of our normal Seminole Service Day this year [Alumni Association directed response to COVID-19]

'FSU Scholar Starter Boxes' were purchased for the Unconquered Scholars - this 22-item box provides students the basics for dorm life (pillows, sheets, blankets, towels, and more).
